"Offering external mentors as part of an individual’s professional development is a great benefit to our organization – particularly for some of our high potential employees. This program is the tool that provides a solid foundation for future leadership growth."
”Mentor Resources has launched a wonderful program that balances formal development and mentoring opportunities with informal gatherings and networking sessions. I particularly value the fact that the program covers an entire year, which gives the participants enough time to focus on long-term growth and achieving personal and professional goals.”

External Mentoring
Since 2001, we’ve been matching high-potential individuals with mentors outside their organization. We offer this high-quality mentoring program for high potential male and female managers.
This program is designed to:
• Build a talent pipeline for future leadership positions,
• Improve leadership and management skills,
• Reduce turnover costs and increase company loyalty
• Broaden business perspective through cross-industry exposure.
External Mentoring Program Components:
- One-on-one mentoring partnership -Each mentee meets one-on-one with a senior executive from another industry. Monthly meetings are generally face-to-face for a period of one year. Mentees access their mentor in real time gaining practical knowledge and experience.
- Educational seminars sharing industry leading, senior executive insights -Mentees learn from experts in a variety of areas such as team building, strategic planning, innovation, and conflict management. The focus of these seminars is to build competencies necessary for future leadership.
- 180 degree feedback process with mentee’s manager -The mentee’s manager provides feedback to Mentor Resources about the mentee and recommends goals and objectives for the year. This feedback, in addition to the mentee’s individual goals, will provide direction for the mentee’s partnership.
- Individualized, Customized Profile -Mentee goals (defined by both the individual and his or her manager) create the profile of the mentor best equipped to coach that mentee. Mentors are hand-selected based on compatibility with mentee needs and personality.
- Individual Five-Year Goal Setting -Working with Mentor Resources Staff, each mentee creates career goals stretching over the next five years, providing the individualized platform from which the year-long mentor relationship will be built.
- Industry-leading Mentors -Mentors are seasoned, senior leaders with a willingness to listen and share. Meeting monthly with their mentee, mentors create and monitor the yearly agenda and share experience and perspective with their mentor.
- Peer-to-peer Networking -Participants share ideas in other high-potential individuals engaged in a mentoring relationship.
